The Bradford County Building Department enforces the Florida Building Code 2014 (5th Edition), the 2011 National Electric Code, and the current Florida Fire Prevention Code.
The National Electric Code is available to be viewed online for free on the National Fire Protection Association's website. Although you may not print it, you may purchase a .PDF version or book from their site.
The Florida Building Code can be found at the Florida Building Commission's website. You may also find out about training on the Florida Building Code, order Florida Building Code Products, and also learn about manufactured structures, product approval, and binding interpretations on their site.
The Florida Building Commission is a board created and located within the Department of Business and Professional Regulation for administrative purposes pertaining to the Florida Building Code. Bradford County requires that permits be obtained for the purpose of ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens we serve.
PLEASE NOTE: The items required for your permit to be reviewed and approved are on the front page of the permit applications found under the downloads tab. All items listed therein must be submitted to our office when applying for your permit or this will delay the application process. PLEASE ALLOW 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS FOR YOUR APPLICATION TO BE REVIEWED! We will contact you once your application has been reviewed and/or approved.
A culvert permit number will be required for a new single-family dwelling and a new/replacement mobile home. Prior to issuance of a building permit, you will need to contact the Road Department at 904-966-6243. You can download the culvert permit and price list at http://www.bradfordcountyfl.gov/road.html. Once the Road Department receives the permit application, a site visit will be scheduled to determine size and price.
A septic permit number may also be required. Please contact the Health Department for all permitting pertaining to a new septic system, or modification of an existing system.
